Name: Dr. Aubrey Sifiso Vilakazi

 

 

Dr. Aubrey Sifiso Vilakazi, hails from Mandeni Town, north of Durban in KwaZulu-Natal (KZN) Province. He matriculated at Nomathiya High School, and did his Diploma in Education for the Secondary Phase (DESP), majoring in Mathematics & Physical Sciences, at Esikhawini College of Education. He did the Advanced Certificate in Education (ACE) Mathematics FET at the University of Natal. He further did the Bachelor of Education Honours (B Ed Hons) (Mathematics & Sciences), at the University of KwaZulu-Natal. Through the University of KwaZulu-Natal, he obtained the Master of Education (M Ed) Mathematics. Currently, he holds the Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Mathematics Education, which he did at the University of KwaZulu-Natal.

He has worked on the full time basis on various fields. He has been a school-based teacher of FET Mathematics & Physical Sciences. He has also been the Acting Mathematics FET Subject Advisor of Ilembe District KZN Department of Education (DoE), and further became the Mathematics FET Subject Advisor of Umkhanyakude District KZN DoE. He joined the Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO), Programme to Improve Learning Outcomes (PILO), as a Jika Imfundo School Coach for the three KZN Districts (Umzinyathi; Umkhanyakude & Ilembe).

Currently, he is serving as a school-based Departmental Head (DH) of FET Mathematics & Sciences Department. He has also worked on a part-time basis for the various organisations.  He has been the Education Consultant for the two KZN Districts (Zululand & Ilembe), hired by the NGO – National Education Collaboration Trust (NECT). He has also served as a Part-Time Lecturer for the ACE course for the Teachers of FET Mathematics & Mathematical Literacy, under the University of KwaZulu-Natal. He has also served as a Facilitator the Teachers’ course on Mathematical Problem Solving Strategies, hired by the South African Mathematics Foundation (SAMF).
