The Department of Science, Technology and Innovation (DSTI), through the National Research Foundation – South African Agency for Science and Technology Advancement (NRF-SAASTA), invites suitably qualified and interested applicants to apply for financial support to undertake the Postgraduate Diploma in Science Communication (PGDip SciComm) at the University of Limpopo in 2027.
The University of Limpopo’s PGDip SciComm is a specialised postgraduate qualification aimed at developing professionals with the knowledge and practical skills to communicate science, technology and innovation effectively to diverse audiences.
ELIGIBILITY
Applicants must:
• Hold an appropriate undergraduate qualification (NQF 7); STEM degree, Communication, Journalism, Media studies or STEM education
• Applicants must be South African citizens or permanent residents.
• There is no age restriction.
• Applicants must have applied for, or been accepted into, the PGDip in Science Communication programme at the University of Limpopo.
• Demonstrate potential to contribute to public understanding and engagement with science, technology and innovation; and

• Certified copies of academic qualifications and academic record (not older than three months);
• Proof of application/admission to the PGDip Science Communication at UL;
• A motivation letter outlining their interest in science communication, relevant experience, career aspirations and potential contribution to science engagement
