Ms. Carine Steyn

Carine Steyn is the Project Leader for STEAM and Teacher Professional Development  at the Govan Mbeki Mathematics Development Centre (GMMDC) at the Nelson Mandela University. She manages the National Math Art Competition for Secondary Schools in South Africa as part of the STEAM focus of the centre. She taught mathematics at secondary school level for 24 years before she returned to the Nelson Mandela University in Port Elizabeth and later joined the GMMDC which is an engagement entity under the Science Faculty. Carine has a passion for STEAM, teaching mathematics and exciting learners about learning. She loves finding creative ways in which to encourage teachers and learners to see and apply Mathematics in the world around them. She completed her PhD on STEAM and Teacher Professional Development at the Nelson Mandela University.
