Blue School Programme Workshop

Blue Schools is an International programme which aims to improve the level of Ocean Literacy, creating responsible and active generations that contribute to the Ocean's sustainability

About The Workshop

The South African Agency for Science and Technology Advancement (SAASTA), in collaboration with the South African Environmental Observation Network (SAEON), both business units of the National Research Foundation (NRF), wishes to invite Life Science and Geography educators from grade 6 to 11 to attend an online workshop. The workshop will introduce educators to a Blue School education programme.

The Blue Schools education programme is implemented in schools across countries in the Atlantic region and is co-developed through collaboration with the local educational community. The All Atlantic Blue Schools programme aims to increase ocean awareness and literacy, ensuring that ocean knowledge is translated into action for sustainable oceans. The International All Atlantic Blue Schools Programme is a collaboration between different Blue School networks from countries in the Atlantic region. The South African Blue Schools programme is a unique project that aims to provide educators with skills to teach in the 21st century, enabling learners to become innovators.

The workshop will focus on the following:
