National Science Month (NSM) does not order you to celebrate science in a specific way. It emphasises a ‘free will’ approach and a voluntary participation model. However, it is still important to collect data on the events to measure how successful NSM has been in spreading the message of science in society.
As a result, we encourage you to register your NSM 2026 event on our central monitoring and evaluation platform called Science Engagement Information Management System (SEIMS). Once registered, the NRF-SAASTA team will assist you on how to submit the data of your event when it takes place.
Using the data of your event, the NSM coordinators can see which provinces or regions are not being exposed to science discovery, discussions or debates. They can see which communities are being left behind, and ensure that the situation is corrected in future.
