Mbalenhle Shandu is a young journalist paving her way into the main stream that is not for the faint-hearted.
A journalist, a news reader, a young editor, she is a person pushed by her love to inform and educate her community in order to gain knowledge that will open their minds and help them in the future.
Originally from Empangeni, Mbalenhle is currently a news reader and editor at Nqubeko Community Radio Station in Ladysmith, which covers five municipalities under the Uthukela District. It is a fairly new but very informative community forum for people in the remotest of places.
“Being granted the opportunity to be a Science and Technology Journalism intern at SAASTA will allow me to explore my sphere of journalism and journalistic writings that will ensure that once I get into a main stream newsroom I will be able to tackle all stories that come my way and cover them in a professional and knowledgeable manner,” she says.
