Singathwa Kuli leading through innovation

Youth development is a main thread in Singathwa Kuli’s vision and mission. Kuli strongly believes that empowering the youth leads to great innovation. Singathwa has supported various youth development organisations, where she saw a gap and co-founded a non-profit organisation that fosters the enjoyment of reading as well critical thinking, and communication skills.

At the tender age of 28 years, Singathwa was promoted to NMB Science and Technology Centre Manager. She quickly climbed the ladder to being Research, Innovation and Sustainability Manager at the Mandela Bay Development Agency, where she oversees the management of the Science and Technology Centre, leading with her visionary mind and great capabilities, Singathwa implemented the STEM Policy and Curriculum at Centre. Singathwa holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry & Microbiology as well as a Postgraduate Diploma in Enterprise Management from Rhodes University. She also holds a Certificate in Project Management and obtained a Diploma in Business Management with distinction from the University of South Africa. At present, Singathwa is pursuing Master of Management in Innovation Studies at Wits University. Besides being granted positive social change awards from commendable organisations and being named one of the Mail & Guardian’s top 200 young South Africans; Singathwa has made great strides in her career, few are mentioned below:

  • Currently serving on the Steering Committee for the re-development of the Bayworld Museum,
  • Presented numerous papers at the SAASTEC conference with the recent paper titled “TANKS coding app – an indigenous tool bringing coding and robotics to learners in disadvantaged schools”.
  • Served on the Local Organising Committee for Premier Phumullo Masualle’s Back to School Initiative where we successfully delivered an ICT Lab and Library at Zanolwazi High School in Despatch.
Singathwa continues to lead through innovative and strategic planning.
