Meet Mr. JeVanne Gibbs

Mr. JeVanne Gibbs

JeVanne Gibbs is currently employed at Eskom Expo for Young Scientists as the Media Officer. He holds a B.A. degree in Journalism from the University of Johannesburg and a Certificate in Computer Engineering from Rosebank College. JeVanne started his career at the Caxton in May 2011 where he gained experience as a reporter, web administrator, newspaper layout artist, social media manager and photographer; then moving on to The Citizen Newspaper, as a journalist; online sub-editor, web administrator and social media manager. In 2015, his career trajectory changed when he joined Grounded Media as a Content Development & Media Relations Manager where he gained experience in public relations; writing original, high-quality content such as media releases, speeches, and managed various social media platforms, practicing media relations, planning marketing and social media campaigns. Here he managed his first project, the Harambee Youth Employment Accelerator.

He has also worked on a number of exciting projects, including: Eskom Development Foundation; Eskom Expo for Young Scientists; Harambee BRT; and ASISA Foundation. He jointly started a community outreach reading hub in Eldorado Park – MUSE Community Outreach Reading Hub – which aimed to improve the reading and literacy of the youth in the area, while assisting learners with homework, projects, and assignments as well as providing food and clothing parcels. Some of JeVanne’s achievements include winning: the News Feature Writer of the Year award at The Citizen’s Annual Awards in 2015; Best Newcomer: Journalist award at The Citizen’s Annual Awards in 2013; and the Best Local Newspaper award: Northcliff Melville Times at the Caxton Annual Awards in 2012.
