Mr. Felix Spies

 Felix Spies is the proud founder of Split Second Science (SSS) and the Split Second Science Education Foundation (SSSEF). He is an experienced educator, educational entrepreneur and has unusual, yet informed, authentic view of the STEM landscape in South Africa.

By identifying key strategic opportunities in the I-STEM education field (Innovation, Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics), Felix works to provide communities with opportunities to access resources to empower them.

SSS and SSSEF creates context specific solutions using an Asset Based, Community Driven, Education approach (ABCDE) which mobilises existing assets within the community, to drive education that is supported and driven by the community.

Felix completed his undergraduate BSc Human Life Sciences with Psychology at Stellenbosch University. He continued his studies at the University of Cape Town by completing his Post Graduate Certificate in Education. He started teaching and during his teaching career he completed his Bed Honours in Educational Management- Law and Systems from the North West University. He also completed his I-SET Robotics – components and pedagogy SLP from UNISA.

He is currently studying his Postgraduate Diploma in Management Practice at Henley Business School (Recipient of the Hidden Hero’s Academic Scholarship), and managing and running SSS and SSSEF.
Providing a platform to create an improvement in people’s context is part of his DNA. He is a people’s person and has a talent for leading, collaborating with and motivating individuals and teams – drawing on collective strengths to optimize performance.

Felix is resourceful and creative and excels at recognizing and crafting possibilities and making them usable to create impact.
