Entering the world of biosciences

Marine Biosciences Month celebrates South Africa's involvement in this field of science, research being conducted and the new frontiers being explored. For the fourth year running, the South African Department of Science and Technology (DST) has declared four thematic months for 2007, namely Antarctica Month (June), Marine Biosciences Month (August), African Origins Month (September) and Astronomy Month (October).

Call for Proposals 2008

Marine Biosciences Month will be held in August 2008. The closing date for proposal submissions is 21 January 2008. All applicants are invited to a briefing session on 23 November 2007, at which guidelines will be provided about the type of proposals required. View the call and workshop details here.

Highlights 2007

One of the highlights of the 2007 calendar, is a project promoting Careers in Marine Biosciences by combining the powerful medium of television with animation. The clip, which will be flighted on SABC during the month of August, will be linked to an SMS-based competition. The clip, as well as the full schedule of when it will be flighted, will be posted on this website shortly.
