Speak from your heart

Let the Universe to speak for itself

In our life time there is an amazing convergence of scientific information and insights ranging from the micro to the macro cosmos - but with ever more challenging questions arising. Any person on the planet can go out at night and on occasion see the Hubble Space Telescope fly over - an icon of space science and astronomy. This telescope and many other remarkable scientific instruments opened a new window through which to observe a wonderful universe. As a physicist and self appointed part-time astronomy communicator it is my passion to share this with many other people.

A visit as a young school boy to the Johannesburg Planetarium created a memorable experience in my life which eventually had a strong impact on my career. Through our contribution to astronomy communication through our regular astronomy presentations at the Boyden Observatory Science Centre, radio programs as well as regular radio interviews I intend to contribute to a sense of wonder and curiosity about the universe amongst the general public. I am convinced that our sustained programs at Boyden, which enable especially young people to look at Saturn and other celestial objects through the excellent telescopes at Boyden, will create memorable learning experiences for a few future-to-be scientists.
