Speak from your heart

It's a special kind of theatre

One of my favourite methods of communicating astronomy ideas is the public talk. There's a sense of community and expectation in a live audience, and often such an audience is self-selected to be people interested in ideas -- not necessarily astronomy ideas -- that's the job of the presenter. The success of these events depends strongly on advertising, a big crowd, a good venue and an innovative, interesting speaker, presenting a talk with a strong title and lots of visuals.
