Echo Caves

Where is it?

The Echo Caves are located in the Blyde River Canyon, situated at the top of the Molopong Valley in Mpumalanga. It is open Tuesday to Sunday, from 09:00 - 16:00. For enquiries, call (011) 956-6342.

What is on display?

It is well worth taking the guided tour through the fascinating chambers and passages of the Echo Caves. Many implements and tools from the Middle and Late Stone Age that were discovered in the caves, are on display in a small museum near the cave entrance. When you strike the rock formation inside the caves, it produces a ringing sound - and that is where the name 'Echo Caves" comes from.
